ཆེད་དུ་བརྗོད་པའི་སྡེ་
Transliteration: ched du brjod pa'i sde
<noun> "The section of utterances". The name of a section of the recorded teachings of the Buddha. This is a section of discourses that were expressed according to a particular need. It is characterized by aphorisms and so is sometimes called the section of aphorisms. See གསུང་རབ་ཀྱི་ཡན་ལག་བཅུ་གཉིས་ "the twelve branches of the excellent speech".

སྣོད་ཀྱི་འཇིག་རྟེན་
Transliteration: snod kyi 'jig rten
<phrase> "The container world". Translation of the Sanskrit [NDS] "bhajanalokaḥ". One of འཇིག་རྟེན་གཉིས་ the two types of world q.v. This refers to the physical, outer world which is the container or environment within which sentient beings live. This term is paired with the term བཅུད་ཀྱི་འཇིག་རྟེན་ meaning the "contained world" i.e., the sentient beings who are contained in the world(s). W…

ཚོགས་བསགས་ཡན་ལག་བདུན་པ་
Transliteration: tshogs bsags yan lag bdun pa
<phrase> "The seven limb worship which gathers the accumulations". A longer name for any liturgy of the ཡན་ལག་བདུན་པ་ seven limb type q.v. Tibetan Buddhism explains that it is a particular effective means for accumulating the ཚོགས་གཉིས་ two accumulations because each of the seven limbs covers a crucial point in the accumulation of merit and abandonment of སྒྲིབ་པ་ obscuration.

ཉི་ཕྱེད་
Transliteration: nyi phyed
<phrase> 1) "Midday" itself. 2)"Midday", "late morning"; the period of morning up to midday. If sunrise is at 6 a.m. then it is about 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. 3) "Midday" the name of the two hour period given as one of the དུས་ཚོད་བཅུ་གཉིས་ twelve watches of a day in the Vinaya and corresponding to the meaning in 1). 4) "Half a day"; abbrev. of ཉི་མ་ཕྱེད་ཀ་.

རྩ་མི་མངོན་པའི་དཔེ་བྱད་
Transliteration: rtsa mi mngon pa'i dpe byad
<noun> "The minor mark of veins not evident". Translation of the Sanskrit [NDS] "gūdhśhira anuvyañjani". One of the སྐྱེས་བུ་ཆེན་པོའི་དཔེ་བྱད་བཟང་པོ་བརྒྱད་ཅུ་ eighty excellent marks of a great being q.v. It is one of རྩའི་དཔེ་བྱད་གཉིས་ "the two minor marks of the veins" q.v.

སྨིག་རྒྱུ་
Transliteration: smig rgyu
<noun> A "mirage" i.e., seeing water in the distance where this is none due to heat rays e.g., in a desert. It is not the same as མིག་ཡོར་ a visual abberation or མིག་འཕྲུལ་ an optical illusion. A mirage is one of སྒྱུ་མའི་དཔེ་བཅུ་གཉིས་ "the twelve analogies of illusion" q.v. and one of འོད་གསལ་རྟགས་བཅུ་ "the ten signs of luminosity".

ཟབ་མོའི་ཆོས་ཉིད་རྣམ་པ་བརྒྱད་
Transliteration: zab mo'i chos nyid rnam pa brgyad
<enum> [JKE] gives as: 1) སྐྱེ་བ་བཟང་མོ་ ""; 2) དགག་པ་ཟབ་མོ་ ""; 3) དེ་ཉིད་ཟབ་མོ་ ""; 4) ཆོས་ཟབ་མོ་ ""; 5) ཤེས་པ་ཟབ་མོ་ ""; 6) ཉམས་ལེན་ཟབ་མོ་ ""; 7) གཉིས་སྟོང་ཟབ་མོ་ ""; 8) ཐབས་མཁས་ཟབ་མོ་ "".

འཁྱག་པ་
Transliteration: 'khyag pa
I. <verb> v.i. འཁྱགས་པ་/ འཁྱག་པ་/ འཁྱག་པ་//. "To become cold". Note that འཁྱགས་པ་རྒྱག་པ་ is "to freeze". Often used to mean that one is feeling cold in the body, hence also "to feel cold". E.g., [TC] ལུས་འཁྱགས་ནས་འདར་བ། "he got cold and shivered"; འཁྱགས་ལྟོགས་གཉིས་མནར། "pained with cold and hunger".
II. <noun> Sometimes by mistake for འཁྱགས་པ་ "ice".

རྣམ་གྲངས་མ་ཡིན་པའི་དོན་དམ་བདེན་པ་
Transliteration: rnam grangs ma yin pa'i don dam bden pa
<phrase> "Unassessed superfactual truth". One of the two types of superfactual truth asserted conventionally by the Yogacara-Svatāntrika Madhyamaka system. རྣམ་གྲངས་པའི་དོན་དམ་བདེན་པ་ "assessed superfactual truth" is the one known by rational mind q.v. བསམ་གཏན་ས་དྲུག་
Transliteration: bsam gtan sa drug
<enum> "The six levels of dhyāna". [JKE] gives as: 1) བསམ་གཏན་དང་པོའི་ཉེར་བསྡོགས་མི་ལྕོགས་མེད་ ""; 2) བསམ་གཏན་དང་པོའི་དངོས་གཞིའི་ཙམ་པོ་བ་ ""; 3) བསམ་གཏན་དང་པོའི་དངོས་གཞི་ཁྱད་པར་ཅན་ ""; 4) བསམ་གཏན་གཉིས་པའི་དངོས་གཞི་ ""; 5) བསམ་གཏན་གསུམ་པའི་དངོས་གཞི་ ""; 6) བསམ་གཏན་བཞི་པའི་དངོས་གཞི་ "".

འཁྲིག་པ་
Transliteration: 'khrig pa
<noun> 1) The general term in classical texts to indicate sexual activity between a male and female of any species. There are many other terms used in special contexts or used more euphemistically. This term is the direct way of saying "sexual intercourse", "copulation". 2) "Couple". The name of one of སྐར་ཁྱིམ་བཅུ་གཉིས་ the twelve houses of the zodiac; the equivalent of "Gemini".

འཁོར་ལོའི་མཚན་བཟང་
Transliteration: 'khor lo'i mtshan bzang
<phrase> "The excellent mark of the wheel". One of the སྐྱེས་བུ་ཆེན་པོའི་མཚན་བཟང་པོ་སུམ་ཅུ་སོ་གཉིས་ thirty-two marks of a great being. An abbrev. of ཕྱག་དང་ཞབས་ཀྱི་མཐིལ་འཁོར་ལོའི་མཚན་དང་ལྡན་པ་ "the palms of his hands and the soles of his feet are (each) marked with wheel" q.v.

ཉེར་
Transliteration: nyer
1) A standard abbrev. of ཉི་ཤུ་ which is supposed only to be placed before written cardinal numbers to give abbrev. forms of the numbers "twenty-one" to "twenty-nine" e.g., ཉེར་གཉིས་ "twenty-two", ཉེར་དྲུག་ "twenty-six". However, it is sometimes seen written by itself as a standard abbrev. of ཉི་ཤུ་ཐམ་པ་ "twenty" itself.

Transliteration: phyed dang
<phrase> This construction followed by a number indicates that there is the number of items indicated by the second number but that one item is there by a half. E.g., ཕྱེད་དང་གཉིས་ means one and a half; ཕྱེད་དང་བཞི་ means three and a half. སྐྱེས་པའི་རབས་ཀྱི་སྡེ་
Transliteration: skyes pa'i rabs kyi sde
<noun> "Section of stories from the succession of lives". Also known in English as the "Jataka Tales" and "Birth Tales". The name of a section of the recorded teachings of the Buddha. This is a section of discourses that related previous lives of the Buddha. See གསུང་རབ་ཀྱི་ཡན་ལག་བཅུ་གཉིས་ "the twelve branches of the excellent speech".

དེ་ལྟ་བུ་བྱུང་བའི་སྡེ་
Transliteration: de lta bu byung ba'i sde
<noun> "Section of parables". Translation of the Sanskrit "itivṛṭaka varga". The name of a section of the recorded teachings of the Buddha. One of the གསུང་རབ་ཀྱི་ཡན་ལག་བཅུ་གཉིས་ "twelve branches of the excellent speech" q.v. This is a section of discourses in which the Buddha teaches, in the form of parables, that such and such happened.
