སྙེ་བ་
Transliteration: snye ba
<verb> v.t. བསྙེས་བ་/ སྙེ་བ་/ བསྙེ་བ་/ སྙེས་/. "To place one's back or side upon something else for support" hence "to lean against / on", "to lean back against / on", "to recline on", "to lie against". E.g., [TC] སྐུ་རྒྱབ་སྔས་ལ་བསྙེས་ཏེ་བཞུགས། "he sat, leaning back against the pillow" or "he sat with his back supported by the bolster".

བཤུར་བ་
Transliteration: bshur ba
<verb> v.t. བཤུར་བ་/ བཤུར་བ་/ བཤུར་བ་/ ཤུར་/. "To singe the nap of fabric that has been woven with very long strands of hair with flames in order to make it smooth". This was done both for thick cloths and also carpets; it is still done today in Tibetan carpet factories. E.g., [TC] སྣམ་བུ་མེ་ལ་སྤུ་བཤུར་བཏང་བ། "the thick fabric had its nap smoothed by singing it in the fire".

བསླུ་བ་
Transliteration: bslu ba
I. <verb> Fut. of v.t. སླུ་བ་ q.v.
II. <noun> "Deception", "cheating". This term does not merely mean being mistaken; it is about deception or cheating, deliberate fraud. Opp. of ཡང་དག་པ་ that which is authentic, not deceptive, not fraudulent. E.g., མི་བསླུ་བ་ "non-deceptive", "not fraudulent". E.g., བདུད་ཀྱི་བསླུ་བ་ "the deception of māra".

ཧ་གོ་བ་
Transliteration: ha go ba
<verb> v.i. derived from གོ་བ་ q.v. "To understand" in the simple sense of either understanding something mentally or not. Note that it does not mean "understand" in the sense of "hear and understand" but purely to understand in the mind. The prefixing of ཧ་ in Tibetan is a way of indicating a mental state. See གོ་བ་ for explanation.

གཤོང་བ་
Transliteration: gshong ba
<verb> v.t. བཤངས་པ་/ གཤོང་བ་/ བཤང་བ་/ ཤོངས་/. "To extract and discard the rubbish or contaminants inside something". Hence "to clean out", "to clean up", etcetera. E.g., [TC] གད་སྙིགས་རྣམས་བཤངས་པ། "to gather up and throw out the rubbish"; གཙང་པོ་གཤོང་བ། "removed the pollution from the Tsangpo River"; ཁྲོན་པ་བཤང་བ། "to clean out a well (remove all the muck and make it clean again)"; སྦུབས་གཤ…

གནོང་བ་
Transliteration: gnong ba
<verb> v.i. གནོངས་བ་/ གནོང་བ་/ གནོང་བ་//. "To feel remorse, shame at one's mistakes made or offences committed". E.g., [TC] ངོ་གནོང་བ་ "to be ashamed"; ཞེ་གནོང་བ་ "to be truly ashamed"; ཉེས་སྐྱོན་བྱུང་བས་གནོངས་པ། "felt remorse for the bad and wrongs done".
Note that this verb has the sense of the mind deflating and becoming ashamed over deeds done. It does not mean being sorrowful though the…

སྡོང་བ་
Transliteration: sdong ba
<verb> v.t. བསྡོངས་པ་/ སྡོང་བ་/ བསྡོང་བ་/ སྡོངས་/. "To make an alliance" together. Hence also "to ally with", "to join up with", and "to confederate". E.g., [TC] གྲོགས་དང་བསྡོངས་ཏེ་ཕྱོགས་སུ་འགྲོ། "joined up with a friend and went off".

རྐྱལ་བ་
Transliteration: rkyal ba
<verb> v.t. རྐྱལ་བ་/ རྐྱལ་བ་/ རྐྱལ་བ་/ རྐྱོལ་/. "To swim" in water. In Tibet, swimming was not done for pleasure as it is in many Western countries, in fact most Tibetans could not swim. Hence the verb has the cultural sense of "to travel somewhere / get across by swimming". E.g., [TC] ཆུ་ཀླུང་རྐྱལ་བ། "to swim across a river"; ཆུ་བོའི་ཚུ་རོལ་ནས་རྐྱལ་ཏེ་ཕ་རོལ་ཏུ་འགྲོ་བ། "he went to the other…

མང་ཆེ་བ་
Transliteration: mang che ba
<adj>phrase> "Most" in the sense of the "majority". For "most" in the sense the greatest amount, see མང་ཤོས་. E.g., བོད་པ་མང་ཆེ་བ་བོད་ལ་སྡོད་ཀྱི་འདུག། "the majority of Tibetans are living in Tibet".

བག་དྲོ་བ་
Transliteration: bag dro ba
<noun><adj> For a person to be showing a cheerful state, to be radiating warmth and making a good atmosphere around, to be warm and jolly.

བཀའ་གནང་བ་
Transliteration: bka' gnang ba
<verb> v.t. see གནང་བ་ for verb tenses. "To order / to command (to do something)", "to give an order / command". When an order has been given that something may be done, it becomes a permit / grant for that thing so, in some cases "to permit / grant" are also suitable.

གླགས་ལྟ་བ་
Transliteration: glags lta ba
<verb> v.t. see ལྟ་བ་ for tense forms. 1) "To size up" meaning to size up something in order to get an opportunity to do damage to it. 2) "To look for a way to get at", "to look for the weak points / weaknesses".

མར་མེ་འབར་བ་
Transliteration: mar me 'bar ba
<phrase> "A burning oil lamp". E.g., མར་མེ་འབར་བ་ནི་མྱུར་དུ་འཛད་པས་མི་རྟག་པ་ "A burning oil-lamp is quickly consumed, so it is impermanent".

ཉེ་བར་མཁོ་བ་
Transliteration: nye bar mkho ba
<noun> "Requisites". Things which are either absolutely required (indispensable) or immediately required (needed right now) for the task at hand.

རེ་བ་མེད་པ་
Transliteration: re ba med pa
<adj>phrase> "Without hope / expectation". E.g., In Buddhism it is said that one generosity should be done without expectation of return hence རེ་བ་མེད་པའི་སྦྱིན་པ་ "generosity without expectation", "giving without expectation".

ཕྱིར་འབྲང་བ་
Transliteration: phyir 'brang ba
<verb> v.t., see འབྲང་བ་ for tense forms. "To pursue", "to chase after", "to follow after". The ཕྱིར་ at the beginning of the phrase emphasizing the sense of "after". E.g., [GSB] རྣམ་རྟོག་ཕྱིར་འབྲང་མ་ཤོར་བ། "not to get lost in chasing after discursive thoughts".
