སྐུ་གཉིས་
Transliteration: sku gnyis
"The two kāyas" i.e., the two bodies of a Buddha. This is a division of a buddha into mind and form aspects. [DGT] gives as: 1) གཟུགས་ཀྱི་སྐུ་ "form body" and 2) ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྐུ་ "reality body" (mind). See སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་སྐུ་ for an explanation of the various kāyas of a buddha.
སྐྱབས་འོས་
Transliteration: skyabs 'os
<noun> 1) "Worthy as a refuge". Translation of the Sanskrit [MVP] "śharaṇya". One of many སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་མཚན་ epithets of the buddha. 2) "Worthy of shelter / refuge" meaning someone who is in need of shelter, who should be given shelter.
བཀའ་འཁོར་ལོ་རིམ་པ་གསུམ་
Transliteration: bka' 'khor lo rim pa gsum
<phrase> "The three, successive wheels of the Buddha word". An abbrev. of སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་བཀའ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་འཁོར་ལོ་རིམ་པ་གསུམ་ "the three, successive levels of the wheel of dharma, the words of the Buddha". See under ཆོས་ཀྱི་འཁོར་ལོ་རིམ་པ་གསུམ་.
གདན་ཐོག་གཅིག་ཏུ་འཛོམས་ནས་
Transliteration: gdan thog gcig tu 'dzoms nas
<phrase> "Having gathered in one spot". E.g., སངས་རྒྱས་ཐམས་ཅད་གདན་ཐོག་གཅིག་ཏུ་འཛོམས་ནས་ཞལ་བསྡུར་ནའང་ "if all the buddhas were to gather in one spot and confer..."
ཆོས་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱི་དབང་ཕྱུག་
Transliteration: chos thams cad kyi dbang phyug
<noun> "Lord of all phenomena". Translation of the Sanskrit [MVP] "sarvadharmeśhvara". One of many སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་མཚན་ epithets of the buddha.
བསྟན་བུ་
Transliteration: bstan bu
<name> "Son of the Teaching". In the Longchen Nyingthig system of Great Completion, an abbrev. of བསྟན་པའི་བུ་གཅིག་གི་རྒྱུད་ "Tantra of the Single Son of the Teaching", which is a reference to the སངས་རྒྱས་སྲས་གཅིག་གི་རྒྱུད་, the root tantra of the whole Great Completion system. Here teaching refers to the teachings of the Great Completion as a corpus.
བདག་གི་བ་མེད་པ་
Transliteration: bdag gi ba med pa
<noun> "Without a sense of mine". Translation of the Sanskrit [MVP] "nirmama". One of many སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་མཚན་ epithets of the buddha.
དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པའི་ཐེག་པ་
Transliteration: de bzhin gshegs pa'i theg pa
<phrase> "Tathāgata Vehicle". Translation of the Sanskrit "tathāgatayāna". Buddhist sūtras and tantras describe many types of vehicle. 1) Generally, this term is used to mean the vehicle that leads to being a buddha as opposed to a lesser result, such as a ཉན་ཐོས་དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་ śhrāvaka arhat or རང་སངས་རྒྱས་དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་ Pratekyabuddha arhat. 2) Specifically, this term is used to mean the ཐེག་པ་…
སྨན་བླ་
Transliteration: sman bla
<noun> 1) "Supreme Healer". A general name for any of the སྨན་བླ་བདེ་གཤེགས་བརྒྱད་ eight medicine buddhas. 2) Abbrev. of the name of the principal of the eight medicine buddhas meaning either སངས་རྒྱས་སྨན་བླ་ "The Buddha, Supreme Healer" or སྨན་བླའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་ "The King of the Medicine Buddhas".
སྐྱོན་བསལ་བ་
Transliteration: skyon bsal ba
<noun> "One who has removed defects". Translation of the Sanskrit [MVP] "dhauta-dosa". 1) One of many སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་མཚན་ epithets of the buddha. 2) In general, that defects have been cleared off.
སྲེད་པ་དང་བྲལ་བ་
Transliteration: sred pa dang bral ba
<noun> "Freed of craving". Translation of the Sanskrit [MVP] "vīta-tṛṣhṇa". One of many སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་མཚན་ epithets of the buddha.
རྒྱུད་བླ་མའི་བརྗོད་བྱ་རྡོ་རྗེའི་གནས་བདུན་
Transliteration: rgyud bla ma'i brjod bya rdo rje'i gnas bdun
<noun> "The seven vajra topics that cover the meaning to expressed by the Uttaratantra". [DGT] gives that the treatise itself says that its meaning is summed up in seven vajra topics: 1) སངས་རྒྱས་ "buddha"; 2) ཆོས་ "dharma"; 3) ཚོགས་ "sangha"; 4) ཁམས་ "dhatu"; 5) བྱང་ཆུབ་ "bodhi"; 6) ཡོན་ཏན་ "guṇa"; 7) སངས་རྒྱས་འཕྲིན་ལས་ "buddhakarma".
བསོད་ནམས་ཀྱི་ཚོགས་
Transliteration: bsod nams kyi tshogs
<phrase> "The accumulation of merit". Translation of the Sanskrit [NDS] "puṇyasaṃbhāraḥ". One of the ཚོགས་གཉིས་ two accumulations. The accumulation of merit is the cause of the སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་གཟུགས་སྐུ་ form bodies of a buddha q.v.
ཡེ་ཤེས་ཀྱི་ཚོགས་
Transliteration: ye shes kyi tshogs
<phrase> "The accumulation of wisdom". Translation of the Sanskrit [NDS] "jñānasaṃbhāraḥ". One of the ཚོགས་གཉིས་ two accumulations q.v. The accumulation of wisdom is the cause of the སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཆོས་སྐུ་ the dharma body of a buddha.
བདུད་ཀྱི་གཡུལ་
Transliteration: bdud kyi g-yul
<phrase> "Warring hordes of māra". E.g., བདུད་བཞིའི་གཡུལ་ལས་རྒྱལ་བའི་རྒྱལ་བ་རྫོགས་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས་ "the complete buddhas, the ones who have conquered the warring hordes of the four māras".
ཆོས་དཀོན་མཆོག་
Transliteration: chos dkon mchog
<noun> "The Dharma Jewel". Of the three Jewels, the one which is the ཆོས་ dharma. The other two are སངས་རྒྱས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ Buddha Jewel and དགེ་འདུན་དཀོན་མཆོག་ the Saṅgha Jewel. See also དཀོན་མཆོག་གསུམ་ the Three Jewels. Note that this does not mean "the precious Dharma" as some have given; it means "The Dharma (the second) member of the three Jewels".
