THE ILLUMINATOR

Encyclopaedic Dictionary

དེ་ལྟ་བས་ན་
Transliteration: de lta bas na
<phrase> A conjunctive phrase joining a situation that has been already been stated with some outcome of that and having the meaning "therefore", "that being so then...", "thus", "consequently". This is the most long-winded of several similar Tibetan expressions and has a very formal sense to it. This should be borne in mind when translating it; it makes sense that an English phrase is used to translate it rather than a single word like "therefore".
