རྐྱལ་
Transliteration: rkyal
I. <verb> See རྐྱལ་བ་ q.v.
II. <noun> "Swimming". Often prefixed to other words to give further meaning. e.g., རྐྱལ་རྒྱག་པ་ "to swim", རྐྱལ་རྫིང་ "swimming hole/pool/lake, etc."

ལོག་འཚོ་
Transliteration: log 'tsho
<noun> form of ལོག་པའི་འཚོ་བ་. "Wrong livelihood". Any way of providing for oneself or others which goes against virtue and creates non-virtue. It is the opp. of ཡང་དག་པའི་འཚོ་བ་ "right livelihood" which the Buddha taught as one of the འཕགས་པའི་ལམ་ཡན་ལག་བརྒྱད་ eight limbs of the eightfold noble path q.v. There are said to be ལོག་འཚོ་ལྔ་ five wrong livelihoods q.v.

ཕྱེད་ཀ་
Transliteration: phyed ka
<noun> "Half"; that portion which results when something is divided into two. E.g., ཟླ་བ་གསུམ་དང་ཕྱེད་ཀ་ "three and a half months"; ཉིན་ཕྱེད་ "half a day".

དག་པ་གཟིགས་པ་
Transliteration: dag pa gzigs pa
<phrase> "The sight of the pure ones" as opposed to the མ་དག་པ་ཚུར་རོལ་མཐོང་བ་ seeing of this side of the impure ones. The pure ones are the aryas. See

མངའ་
Transliteration: mnga'
I. <verb> [Hon] Part of མངའ་བ་ q.v.
II. <noun> [Hon] Having "power" or "sway" or "control" or "might" or "dominion" or "mastery" over something or someone. E.g., in མངའ་སྒྱུར་ to have governance or control over something or someone.

ཡ་རེ་ང་
Transliteration: ya re nga
<phrase> A phrase derived from ཡ་ང་བ་ q.v. The insertion of རེ་ between the words of the phrase creates the sense of "Oh how anxious I feel for them, given their dreadful situation".

སྔོན་དུ་
Transliteration: sngon du
<adverb> Derived from སྔོན་མ་ q.v. and meaning "pre-", "previous to", "earlier", "before", "prior (to)". E.g., in སྔོན་དུ་འགྲོ་བ་ "preliminary" and སྔོན་དུ་འཇུག་པ་ "prefix.

གང་ཤར་
Transliteration: gang shar
<phrase> "Whatever shines forth" or "whatever appears" or "whatever dawns". In the context of mind, this cannot be translated as "whatever appears"; see འཆར་བ་ for explanation. In other contexts, it refers to whatever comes up.

གནས་གཙང་མའི་ས་ལྔ་
Transliteration: gnas gtsang ma'i sa lnga
<phrase> "Five bhūmis of the pure abodes". The གནས་གཙང་མ་ "pure abodes" or གཙང་རིས་ལྷ་གནས་ "pure level heavens" (q.v.) are a realm outside cyclic existence but are figuratively placed as the highest level of the གཟུགས་ཁམས་ form realm. They are placed inside and at the top of བསམ་གཏན་བཞི་པ་ the fourth level of concentration, situated above the various saṃsāric levels of the fourth level of c…

ཁ་ལོ་
Transliteration: kha lo
<noun> The place from which something is controlled or managed. Hence "the helm", "the controls", "the cockpit", "the ruling position", "the place of power / control / dominion". See also ཁ་ལོ་སྒྱུར་བ་.

ཀ་འཕན་
Transliteration: ka 'phan
<noun> "Pillar hanging", "pendant", "chevron". The ornamental hangings that are sewn of brocade or other fine cloth and hung on the ཀ་བ་ pillars / columns of Tibetan structures for decoration.

གསལ་རྗེན་རྗེན་པ་
Transliteration: gsal rjen rjen pa
<phrase> Abbrev. of གསལ་བ་རྗེན་པའི་རྗེན་པ་ meaning "totally bared illumination" which we would usually say in English as "bare, naked illumination" etc. This is path language of the of ཕྱག་རྒྱ་ཆེན་པོ་ Mahāmudrā and རྫོགས་པ་ཆེན་པོ་ Great Completion teachings. ལྷས་བྱིན་གྱི་བརྟུལ་ཞུགས་ལྔ་
Transliteration: lhas byin gyi brtul zhugs lnga
<enum> "The five yogic disciplines of Devadatta". [DGT] [JKE] give as: 1) ཤ་མི་ཟ་བ་ "not eating flesh"; 2) འོ་མ་མི་འཐུང་བ་ "not drinking milk"; 3) ལན་ཚྭ་མི་ཟ་བ་ "not eating salt"; 4) གོས་དྲས་ཤིང་དྲུབ་པ་མི་གྱོན་པ་ not to wear patchwork clothing (unlike the Buddha who specified sewn robes in a patchwork style for his monks); 5) དགོན་པར་མི་གནས་པ་ "not staying in isolated places".

ལྟེ་བའི་དཔེ་བྱད་གཉིས་
Transliteration: lte ba'i dpe byad gnyis
<phrase> "The two minor marks of the navel". One grouping of the སྐྱེས་བུ་ཆེན་པོའི་དཔེ་བྱད་བཟང་པོ་བརྒྱད་ཅུ་ eighty excellent marks of a great being q.v. They are: 1) ལྟེ་བ་ཟབ་པའི་དཔེ་བྱད་ "deep navel"; and 2) ལྟེ་བ་གཡས་ཕྱོགས་སུ་འཁྱིལ་བའི་དཔེ་བྱད་ "navel winding to the right".
